Geno.Me (“jee-no-mee”)

At Geno.Me, we enable our users to control their health data at scale because they own it. By making clinical-grade information accessible from anyone at any time, our users have the power to give medical researchers the ability to discover new treatments, while being compensated for their contributions. We’re a team headquarted in Milwaukee, Wisconsin made up of thinkers, doers, problem-solvers, and innovators that have accepted the challenge to change the world for the better, starting with the people.

Britt Gottschalk, MBA, MIO - Founder and Chief Executive Officer

Britt Gottschalk, MBA, MIO
Britt serves as the Chief Executive Officer for Geno.Me. Britt’s role focuses on advancing the mission, work and overall vision of the company. She is a Milwaukee native and holds a bachelor’s in Psychology from UW-Milwaukee and dual masters’ degrees in Industrial/Organizational Psychology and Business Administration from Elmhurst University.

Britt has cultivated a professional background in the healthcare, services, and communications sectors for the last 15 years. She is passionate about championing the innovative ways that Geno.Me is revolutionizing the future of healthcare. In her spare time, she enjoys running, getting together with friends, hitting the dog park with her dog, Brock, or grabbing a bite at local restaurants.

Ethan Sprang, MA, PHR - People Operations Manager

Ethan Sprang, MA, PHR
Ethan serves as the People Operations Manager for Geno.Me. His primary focus is on workplace experience and business continuity, but with a background in finance, he also assists in the development and management of Geno.Me’s financial and business modeling. Ethan graduated from the University of Kentucky with a Bachelor's degree in Finance and then proceeded to obtain his Master's degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from Elmhurst University. He holds roughly 7 years' experience in organizational development from a people and culture perspective.

Since the inception of Geno.Me, Ethan has felt particularly motivated by the opportunity to increase transparency and overall effectiveness of healthcare processes and procedures. After undergoing a minor knee procedure several years back, Ethan first-handedly witnessed the lack of communication between hospitals, as well as the inefficiencies that existed in invoicing during the handoff between insurers and healthcare providers. Outside of work, Ethan enjoys golfing, pickle balling, doing some creative writing, and supporting his alma mater, the University of Kentucky’s Wildcats!

Shaun Bogan - Lead Software Engineer

Shaun Bogan
Shaun serves as the Lead Software Engineer for Geno.Me. He has been a software engineer for 14+ years and first taught himself to program at an early age. He started his career in Avionics - working on software verification of safety critical systems across multiple aircraft - and then spent a decade in the field of building automation.

With interests in both solving technical challenges and of genetics in particular, Geno.Me’s mission is especially motivating to him. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Software Engineering from UW-Platteville. In his free time, he enjoys oil painting and reading.

Alex Bakken - Full Stack Engineer

Alex Bakken
Alex serves as a Software Engineer for Geno.Me with a focus on backend systems. Alex attended UW-Milwaukee and UW-Madison more recently, where he received a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. Alex has a background in development-level work since 2014 having opportunities to work in organizations that specialized in HIPAA-compliant platform-as-a-service (PAAS) and backend-as-a-service (BAAS), as well as building APIs that the technical infrastructure runs on.

Alex views his role at Geno.Me as sort of generalist when it comes to the technical stack and planning for features in the application. Outside of work, Alex enjoys playing video games, brewing kombucha, golfing, and tending to his plants.

Sage Raflik - Full Stack Engineer

Sage Raflik
Sage serves as a Full Stack Engineer with Geno.Me. Holding 10+ years of software development and 6 years of professional Full Stack Web Development experience, Sage’s background had him working with accounting software, inventory management systems, android apps, and Unity3d games. Based out of Milwaukee, Sage attended UW-Milwaukee where he received a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science.

Sage is close to the Geno.Me mission and truly understands the importance of the human genome. He is motivated to use his skills to deliver a quality piece of software that he can be proud of, along with making useful tools that make a difference in the world. Outside of programming, Sage’s hobbies include reading political theory, beating video games as fast as possible, and exploring his interest in biohacking / pharmacokinetics, specifically around nootropics.

Kristen Labs - Head of Product

Kristen Labs
A proud Badger alumna, Kristen received her bachelor's degree in Biology and Zoology with certificates in African Studies and Global Health from UW-Madison. She brings over a decade of drug development experience, having led operational aspects of clinical studies. While working in the pharmaceutical industry, Kristen generated insights for various platforms and acquired a unique perspective to the end-user experience.

As a Product Owner at Geno.Me, she draws from her research expertise to continuously improve our product and help support our mission. She is excited to drive the future of precision medicine while empowering consumers to take control of their data in a meaningful way. Outside of work, you can find her enjoying Milwaukee with her husband, Whippet, and Greyhound - at a brewery, on the water, or restoring historic homes in the city.

Nadia Bennett - Executive Assistant

Nadia Bennett
Nadia serves as the Executive Assistant for Geno.Me and is an experienced administrative and project management professional with over 10+ years of experience helping organizations streamline their business administrative processes while providing an exceptional work ethic, a high sense of dedication, and a strong commitment to excellence. Nadia has in-depth experience in professional office executive assistant positions and a record of accomplishment of strong performance in high-volume, high-pressure environments.

Nadia skillfully manages administrative duties and client relations for her colleagues at Geno.Me. Nadia earned her Master of Public Administration from the University of North Texas and Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Communication from the University of Texas at Arlington and is also certified by PMI as a Project Management Professional. Outside of work, Nadia enjoys nurturing her plants, spending time with her dog, Bentley, and traveling around the globe.
